Board of Forestry to meet July 16

SALEM, Ore. — The Oregon Board of Forestry will hold a special virtual meeting on Wednesday, July 16, starting at 10 a.m. The purpose of the special meeting is to allow the Board to connect with the Governor’s Office natural resources policy advisors regarding the plan for the State Forester recruitment. The virtual meeting link is: https://www.youtube.com/c/OregonDepartmentofForestry.

The board’s agenda for July 16 includes:

  • Opening Comments and Introductions
  • State Forester Recruitment Roles and Responsibilities
  • Board Discussion
  • Closing Comments

The Oregon Board of Forestry consists of seven citizens nominated by the Governor and confirmed by the Oregon Senate. Responsibilities include appointing the State Forester, setting management direction for state-owned forests, adopting rules governing timber harvest and other practices on private forestland, and promoting sustainable management of Oregon’s 30-million-acre forestland base. Read more information about the board.
