When OR lawmakers dream about transportation, what do they see?

After months of collective advocacy and engagement—and just 20 days remaining in session—the Legislature released its long-awaited Transportation Reinvestment Package. Here’s the download on what’s in the bill, and how you can help make sure that lawmakers deliver for climate in the final stretch.

THE GOOD: Climate Solutions and our partners in the Move Oregon Forward coalition are excited to see important investments in safety and transit programs, and creative and equitable solutions to ensure that Oregon’s transportation needs are fully met.

THE BAD: The Transportation Reinvestment Package fails to deliver needed investments in clean, electric vehicles or charging infrastructure, while simultaneously imposing punishing new fees that specifically target electric vehicle drivers.

In sum, the current draft would make it more expensive for Oregonians to drive electric than fossil fueled vehicles. Worse still, this proposal follows months of legislative debate that resulted in a two-year delay in enforcing Oregon’s Advanced Clean Trucks rule. This is exactly the opposite of what we should be doing as a state in 2025.

With just weeks remaining in session, now is the time to urge Oregon legislators to course correct and deliver a transportation future that accelerates clean transportation solutions—not delays them

Here’s how you can help:

📨 Email your legislators today and urge them to include climate investments in the transportation package. We can’t afford to fall further behind.

🪧 Join us at the Capitol this Thursday, 6/12 for a rally in support of clean air and climate investments—bring signs, friends, and your voice! (Meet at 9:15AM on the State Street steps of the Capitol).
